Judicial authorities in Entre Ríos have confirmed that the remains found near the city of Rosario del Tala belong to Martín Palacio, the taxi driver who transported Pablo Laurta, the double femicide of Mariel Zamudio, his ex-partner, and her daughter, Luna Giardina. Palacio, 49, had been missing since October 7, but his remains—a skull and an arm—were found on October 30 following an anonymous call to the police. Law enforcement officials focused the search along Route 15. After several weeks, experts determined that the remains belonged to Palacio through a dental study and DNA testing. According to the reconstruction of events accessed by the Argentine News Agency, on the night of October 7, Palacio met Laurta at the Concordia bus terminal, where he paid him one and a half million pesos for a transfer to the city of Córdoba. According to investigators, the two men knew each other in advance, and it has even emerged that the killer had hired Palacio's services on other occasions. Laurta then allegedly murdered the taxi driver and hid part of his body in the Entre Ríos locality of Estación Yeruá to continue alone to Córdoba at the wheel of a Toyota Corolla belonging to the victim. Finally, in the Córdoba capital, Laurta committed the murders of Luna and Mariel, burned the vehicle in the Altas Cumbres area, although he was arrested several days later in a hotel in Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos. Currently, the double femicide is lodged in the Cruz del Eje prison, located 146 kilometers northwest of the Córdoba capital. However, he did not answer questions during his interrogation and only requested the return of his minor son, from his relationship with Mariel.
